Machine shop is still alive!

It has been quite some time since I have posted, but while i'm getting new content ready, please take time to check out two of my favorite machinists on youtube:

John Saunders - www.nyccnc.com and his NYCCNC youtube channel

and

Tubalcain - mrpete222 for all of your manual lathe and mill questions. He is a retired Industrial Arts teacher who does an amazing job of explaining everything you did not know, you didn't know about machining. His video series on the Southbend lathe is great for teachers and students.

Fall 2009 Update

Sadly, I haven't made many posts on here. Mainly just links that I know I want to share or use as reference for mayself.

First I'd like to announce that our new TORMACH PCNC 1100 is setup and ready to run. All that needs to be completed is mounting the machine arms that hold the monitor and tooling and then complete the coolant line installation. Picture and videos will follow shortly.

We are also working on a few side projects. The project at the forefront will most likely be our first machined part. We are trying to make an injection mold of a plastic key used by the districts custodial staff.

Injection molding basics can be found on Max's Little Robot shop website. Kenneth MAxon has an amazing site with lots of Machinist / Robotics projects, photos etc. Take some tim eto browse his site, he takes robotics design to a whole new artistic level. Plus look at all those tools! I'd love to work in a shop like that!
